Getting Excited for March Mayhem!

It's Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament week, and I can't contain myself (Let’s go, Deacs!)... I reflect on the magical days of when it was an 8-team tourney with games on only Friday, Saturday and Sunday, appreciating how it's grown to almost an entire week. Normally, I'd use vacation to sit in the arena for 4 games back-to-back on back-to-back days, absolutely loving it, but I have conflicting commitments for NAWBO-GR and Lung Cancer Initiative so I'll squeeze in what I can and be checking my Yahoo Sports app regularly.

With tipoff today, I reflect back to almost exactly 3 years ago when Mom and I were sitting in the Greensboro Coliseum, watching the evening games. We heard rumblings all around us: The NBA had shut down, and there was talk that no fans would be in attendance for the next day’s ACC quarterfinals. We had no idea we were on the verge of the world shutting down.

It’s hard to describe how 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲’𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱. We’ve been slapped across the face with our society’s inequities as well as how we are never guaranteed tomorrow, and we’ve had to adjust.

This period has emphasized these productivity fundamentals:
🌻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲. Do the best you can throughout extenuating circumstances.
🧘🏻‍♀️ 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. We must roll with the ups and downs of changes.
👩🏻‍💻 𝗔𝗶𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Whether life’s emotional rollercoaster or the constantly growing demands for your attention, distractions are everywhere, stealing your energy.
⏳ 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀. What you do once matters; what you do repeatedly matters more. Have a morning routine that sets up success. Set breaks throughout the day for movement, eating and hydration. Determine how to be held accountable.

What helps you to organize for success these days?
