2023 - A Year in Review - Learning from All We Experienced
As the primary care partner of a parent with dementia, 2023 has been anything but easy. Amidst all the challenges of 2023, it’s imperative to intersperse as many joys as possible, and I’m continually inspired by the creativity, resilience, collaboration, thoughtfulness, grace and emphasis on self-care shared by my squad as well as the community around me. As we mourn what many have lost, we celebrate those who’ve stepped up and the many ways in which we’ve all grown. Life is a constant rollercoaster ride!
⠀
We’ve learned many productivity tips and hacks throughout the joys and challenges of this year:
🏃🏻♂️ Stick with realistic expectations alongside habits that make us better.
🗓 Carefully select priorities.
👩🏻💻 Always work to be flexible.
🧘🏻♀️ Offer grace to ourselves as we hopefully do to those around us.
📲 Create synergy with others to uplevel our results.
👩🏻🤝👨🏾 Embrace diversity.
🗒️ Lean into how goals for all elements of life can complement rather than compete with each other.
From sports to advocacy work, supporting non-profits to quality time with friends, public speaking and consulting clients to awards from Lung Cancer Initiative, KNOW and NAWBO as well as great music, taking my youngest niece and nephew to Dude Perfect along with vacations on Bald Head Island and in Vegas, 2023 was a very full year. Focusing on work-life integration boosts productivity for what matters most at work, at home, in society and for bettering our minds, bodies and spirits. As I’m reminded time and time again, teamwork proves repeatedly that “together, everyone achieves more”.
Here’s to learning from 2023 to make 2024 even better!
